Since 1984, the Community Foundation’s scholarship program has awarded well more $1.4 million to students to help them reach their educational goals. The Community Foundation manages 33 scholarship funds, which provide continuing educational opportunities to more than 140 students each year.
Each individual scholarship fund is designated for students graduating from either a specific high school, are employees or children of employees of specific businesses, or are current college students pursuing a specific career path.
When establishing a scholarship fund, donors work with Community Foundation staff to develop criteria and guidelines that fulfill the donor’s desire to address a specific purpose, such as financial need, educational excellence, career choice, athletic ability, etc. Community Foundation staff often work with scholarship committees and high school guidance departments during the selection and award process.
