Accountant
The Gig at a Glance
We are looking for a detail-oriented, experienced Accountant to join our team as we work to create a caring, prosperous southwest Washington where everyone belongs. This person will have primary responsibility for accounting functions such as general ledger, accounts payable, weekly grant payments, gift posting and bank reconciliations. Additional duties include reporting for internal users, financial and administrative support for grantmaking staff, and assisting the CFO in oversight of all financial matters.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred with two to three years accounting experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Sound understanding of generally accepted accounting principles.
- Ability to learn and adopt database technology and other computer programs.
- Self-motivated, organized and detail-oriented approach to tasks.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and timetables while maintaining focus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Desire to improve the quality of life for those living in southwest Washington.

What You’ll Get to Do
- Manage recurring accounting functions, including recording cash receipts and disbursements, treasury functions, and assessment of service and investment fees on charitable funds.
- Maintain the general ledger, recording all transactions and performing account reconciliations with accuracy and timeliness, and in accordance with GAAP.
- Oversee maintenance of accounting database and maintaining accounting records.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly donor fund statements detailing fund activity.
- Develop and prepare reports for staff to support work with donors, grantees and community.
- Serve as liaison for fund managers or representatives, maintaining periodic contact with nonprofit beneficiaries and review of fund agreements.
- Assist with preparation of annual operating budget, preparation of annual financial statements, and communicating financial information with board of directors, leadership, and staff.
- Work with CFO to ensure appropriate internal controls.
- Special projects and other duties as assigned.

- A salary ranging from $60,000 – $65,000 depending on experience.
